Inspiring minds, transforming lives and moving beyond awareness

The conference organising committee invite you to submit an abstract for consideration for inclusion in the 2026 conference program. Please review the information below and submit via the online abstract submission portal, which will open on Wednesday 28 January 2026.

The abstract submission portal will close on Friday 1 May 2026 at 5pm (AEST).

About the Conference

The Trauma Aware Conference brings together educators, researchers, practitioners, professionals, community leaders, artists, and people with lived experience to explore how trauma awareness is shaping education, wellbeing, and social systems. We seek to create a space that values multiple ways of knowing and invites contributions that are scholarly, practice-based, and creative.

We invite abstracts from educators, researchers, practitioners, community organisations, and those with lived experience who are engaged with trauma awareness in education. Contributions may take the form of academic papers, practice reflections, creative works, or alternative presentations. We particularly encourage submissions from diverse voices and disciplines that push the boundaries of how trauma awareness can be understood and enacted. Contributions from a broad range of educational settings are also invited including early childhood, Flexi and Flo schools, alternative settings, primary and secondary schools and higher education.

Equity and Inclusion

We particularly encourage submissions from:

  • First Nations scholars and practitioners
  • LGBTQIA+ researchers and community members
  • Neurodiverse academics and practitioners
  • Early-career researchers and postgraduate students
